The Jane Eloise Helms Vance Papers contains materials used or created by Vance during her time as a student at the Woman's College of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro or UNCG) from 1962-1966.

Diary of Louise Vann during her senior year, 1947-1948, at Woman's College (now UNCG). Louise wrote about her daily activities, her dating life, school activities, and about friends and family. She also described her experience as a summer counselor at Camp Farwell (founded in 1889), perhaps the longest running camp for girls in the United States.

This collection includes twenty letters written from Fort Des Moines and Fort Oglethorpe dated September 1942 - March 1944.

Augusta Walker (1914-2000) was a fiction writer and served as an Instructor of English at Woman's College (now UNCG) from 1945 to 1947.

Included in this collection is the carbon typescript for Walker's novel, Around a Rusty God (New York: Dial, 1954), which contains handwritten notes and corrections.

Lovay Wallace-Singleton (b. 1959), of Saginaw, Michigan, served in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller from 1978-1998.

Charlotte E. Ward (1914-1988), of Delaware, Indiana, served with the United States Army Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and then the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1943-1945.

The collection includes a diary Ward recorded her experiences in the Women's Army Corps and Women's Army Auxiliary Corps from 1943 February to October.

Warren Ashby Residential College was founded in 1970 by Dean of Arts and Sciences Robert Miller, and Professor of Philosophy Warren Ashby. Ashby was formed as a living-learning environment and encourages innovative study, small classes, unity of academic and social experiences, and close student-faculty contacts. Today, Warren Ashby Residential College at Mary Foust Hall is one of three residential colleges currently on UNCG's campus.

Scrapbooks, correspondence, newspapers, and photographs related to Pearl Myrtle Wasem (1920-2004). This collection spans 1941-1957 and includes 12 scrapbooks, hundreds of letters and photographs, a songbook, military papers, and newspapers.

The Lottie Watkins Notebook is a composition book containing Watkins' notations for a literature course from 1893 to 1894.

Mary C. Watkins was a student at the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School from 1892-1894.

The Mary C. Watkins Notebooks consist of three notebooks in which Watkins took class notes and completed course exercises while attending the school in the early 1980s.

Robert W. Watson (1925-2012) was on the English Department faculty at UNCG from 1953 until his retirement in 1987. He received many literary honors and was the main architect of UNCG's Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program.

The Robert W. Watson Papers date from 1948 to 1980 and contain manuscripts, typescripts, publisher's proofs and galleys, clippings, correspondence, photographs, and reviews.

J. Holley Watts (b. 1944) of Rockville Centre, New York, served in the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) program from 1966 to 1967 and was stationed in Vietnam.

Way and Williams, Publishers was established in 1895 by Washington Irving Way and Chauncey Williams. Although the firm lasted only three years (1895-1898) and produced only sixty-six books, many of its titles represent the work of some of the major artists and book designers of the period.

The Way and Williams manuscripts collection dates from 1895 to 1990 and contains correspondence, legal materials, photographs, typescripts, printed materials, and a scrapbook.

Maria Felger Wayne (b. 1964), of Van Wert, Ohio, served in the United States Army as a transportation officer from 1985 until 1993.

This collection includes an oral history transcript, 14 October 2010; various scanned photographs.

The Weatherspoon Art Museum Association was originally founded in 1942 as the Friends of the Weatherspoon Gallery. Today, the Association serves as an important link between the Weatherspoon Art Museum and the community at large.

Arlene Mae Webb (1923-2007), of Overland, Missouri, served in the United States Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1943-1945.

Egon Wellesz (1885-1974) was an Austrian-born British composer, tecaher, and musicologist who composed over 125 works in a variety of perfomance media. He was also a scholar who specialized in Byzantine music and taught at Oxford. Wellesz was a student of composer Arnold Schoenberg and his collection contains many of Schoenberg's published works.

This collection consists of one letter from Helen Wells to two young readers. Wells was the author of many of the Cherry Ames books, a series of 27 mystery novels for young teens.

Irma Jackson Cayton Wertz (1911-2007) of Detroit, Michigan, served as an officer in African American units of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and later the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1942-1945.

The collection is made up of nine photographs and one letter from Wertz to her mother.
