Biographical / Historical
Annis Glendon Weir (b. 1921), of Trenton, New Jersey, served in the Navy Nurse Corps at St. Albans Hospital on Long Island from April 1945 to April 1946.
Annis Glendon Weir grew up in Trenton, New Jersey, and graduated from Trenton High School in 1938. She went to New Jersey College for Women for a year and a half, until she was old enough to attend nursing school at St. Francis Hospital in 1940. Weir graduated in 1943 and worked in the operating room at St. Francis for a year and then in the neonatal nursery at Mercer Hospital, also in Trenton."
In April 1945, Wier joined the Navy Nurse Corps after obtaining a waiver for her eyesight. She was stationed at St. Albans Hospital in Long Island, New York, doing mostly administration work. She was discharged in April 1946, when she married Earle Weir. They returned to Trenton, where Weir continued to work as a nurse until her two children were born.
