Biographical or Historical Information

The Weatherspoon Art Museum Foundation was established in 1990. The Board of Directors consists of five to twenty-five members, which are appointed by the Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with the recommendation of the Chancellor. The Foundation acquires works of art and maintains the art collection in the Weatherspoon Art Museum for the purpose of teaching, research, and public service. This includes fund raising activities, purchasing new pieces of art, and donor relations.

Abstract

The Weatherspoon Art Museum Foundation was established in 1990 and is responsible for the holding and purchasing of art work for the Weatherspoon Art Museum.

The records of the Weatherspoon Art Museum Foundation contain inventories, meeting minutes, and reports which document the activities of the Foundation from 1987-2005

The arrangement scheme for this collection was imposed during processing in the absence of a useable original order. This collection is arranged into one Series and is organized in alphabetical order. Series 1: General Files, 1987-2005
