Scope and Contents
The carbon typescript for the novel, Around a Rusty God (New York: Dial, 1954) contains handwritten notes and corrections. The story is about a Chinese boy and the two goats he raises and cares for until he is forced to give them up due to the coming war. Also included are two page proofs of line drawings by Jeanyee Wong used as chapter headings.

Biographical or Historical Information
Augusta Walker (1914-2000) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and educated at the University of Michigan. She served as an Instructor of English at Woman's College (now UNCG) from 1945 until 1947. She then taught at Lignan University in Canton, China until 1950. From 1963 to 1965 she taught at Hunter College in New York City, New York. She published several novels, articles and short stories, one of which won an O. Henry Award in 1954.
