Biographical / Historical
Helen Wells (1910-1986), born Helen Weinstock, was an American author and was known for her books written for young people that focused on young women pursuing careers. Wells is perhaps best known for her "Cherry Ames" nurse series, of which she wrote 22 of the 27 books in the series. Wells graduated from NYU in 1934 and worked as a social worker before leaving the profession to become a fulltime writer.
