This collection contains the administrative records of the Dean of the School of Music, Dance, and Theatre. Included are correspondence, memoranda, committee records, annual reports, and other records that document the activities of the Dean.

Natasha Suddreth Schoonover (b. 1978), of Boone, North Carolina, served in the United States Army National Guard from 1995 until 2005.

Dr. Annie Vellna Scott, a 1914 alumna of the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School (now UNCG), served as a medical missionary in China during the war with Japan, just prior to World War II.

The collection consists of three typewritten pages written by Dr. Scott in November 1937, describing her experiences over several days as a medical missionary doctor in China during the war with Japan.

Collection consists of seven letters written to her parents in Johnson City, Tennessee. In the letters, Scott discusses military life at the various bases at which she was assigned as well as her job responsibilities. The last letter indicates that she had left the WAC and was living in Gadsden, Alabama with her husband Bill who was serving in the Army Air Force.

The collection includes an oral history transcript, 9 September 2005; undated speech written by Elsie about her life story including living in Stockton, California and moving to China in 1931, joining the Chinese Red Cross during WWII, and subsequent events until 1946 when she left her family in China and moved back to the United States; photographs of Elsie during her service the Chinese Medical Relief Corps, circa 1939-1946.

The Elizabeth Sewell Papers contains correspondence from Elizabeth Sewell, publications written by Sewell, a fragment of a manuscript written by Sewell, and some biographical information. Elizabeth Sewell served as the Joe Rosenthal Professor of Humanities at UNCG from 1974-1977.

The Sewing Book dates from 1893 to 1894 and contains loose leaves of models and instructions for a sewing course at the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School.

Two World War II V-mail albums of correspondence between brother and sisters. Ruth was serving in the Army Nurse Corps and was stationed in the Pacific; Her brother James Paul was serving in the Europe Theater of Operations.

Charles Shaw, librarian at the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG) from 1920 until 1927, collected these letters written by famous women. The collection dates from 1881 to 1916, and include correspondents such as Susan B. Anthony, Mary Antin, Cecelia Beaux, Margaret Deland, Zona Gale, Lillian Nordica, Alice F. Palmer, Annie Peck, and Lucy Stone.

Anna Howard Shaw (1847-1919) was a Methodist minister and an orator for women's suffrage and temperance. The Anna Howard Shaw Papers date from 1917 to 1919 and contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and speeches.

May Shearer of Lenoir, North Carolina, attended the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG) from 1919-1923.

Luigi Silva (1903-1961) is remembered as a distinguished musician, teacher, and scholar of the violoncello. The Luigi Silva Cello Music Collection, dedicated on April 5, 1964, spans nearly 1400 scores, many of which are transcribed or highly annotated by Silva. This collection is renowned among musicologists for its impressive number of annoted Bach suites.
