The Ramsey family was a prominent family of the slave-owning class with a mansion home in Mecklenburg, Tennessee during the Civil War era.
The Ramsey Family Papers date from 1797 to 1891 and consist chiefly of correspondence, along with autobiographical and genealogical notes and a small photograph of Sue Ramsey.
Lydia L. Rawlins Papers
This collection contains Lydia Rawlins' manuscript diary, accompanied by two letters written to Lydia Rawlins. Lydia Rawlins was a schoolteacher and daughter of a preacher who lived in Manila, Indiana. When the diary begins she is teaching in Addison, Township in Shelby County, Indiana. Lydia was very religious and held anti-slavery views. Her diary covers the tension within her church regarding the issue of slavery and how the issue affected her faith.
Elizabeth Ann Ray Collection
Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Ray of Winnsboro, Texas, served as an officer in the United States Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC), Women's Army Corps (WAC), and Women in the Air Force (WAF). Ray served as both deputy director and director of WAF. Her service career lasted from 1942 till 1964.
The collection includes 11 June 2008 oral history transcript; Military service resume; sheet of Women in the Armed Services stamps; photographs from service 1944-1973.
Anna J. Reardon Papers
This collection consists of various personal papers relating to Anna J. Reardon, a physics instructor and head of the physics department at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro). Winifred M. Reid Letters
Winifred Reid, Rebekah McClain Stroupe, and Eulalie Elliott Reid all attended UNCG in its earlier incarnations, the State Normal and Industrial School and the North Carolina College for Women. This collection includes a 1988 letter from Winifred Reid, a 1919 letter from Stroupe, and a 1928 letter from Reid, sharing their memories of the school.
Mayne Reid Papers
Thomas Mayne Reid (1818-1883) was an Irish-born novelist who lived and wrote in the United States and England. This collection dates from approximately 1866 and includes an original holograph manuscript for Chapter 3, "The Galatea," of Reid's novel Afloat in the Forest, as well as related correspondence.
Director of Religious Activities Records
The Director of Religious Activities was responsible for providing and organizing inclusive religious activities on the campus of what is now UNCG. This record group is comprised of correspondence, programs, schedules, minutes, and handbooks which date from 1932-1964.

Maria Rendleman was a teacher in North Carolina in the nineteenth century. This collection includes a contract (signed March 26, 1858) to teach at the Public School House of District Number 25 in Rowan County for a term of three months.

The Reviewers Club Records
The Reviewers Club was established in Greensboro, North Carolina, in January 1895, for the purpose of mutual improvement and the promotion of closer fellowship. The oprganization meets monthly from May through October to discuss various topics of literary, historical and social significance.
The collection documents the activities of the Reviewers Club and includes meeting minutes, yearbooks, and scrapbooks.

Myrtle A. Rhoden Collection
Myrtle Rhoden (1921-2005) of New York City, served in the United States Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) and the Women's Army Corp (WAC) from 1941 to 1945. She was part of the all African-American 6888th Central Postal Battalion.

Erma G. Riedel Photograph Album
Photograph album includes over 250 photographs taken by Riedel during her Army Nurse Corps service. Included are images of soldiers and nurses at Fort Des Moines, Iowa and images of nurses, patients, buildings and wards at Camp Kerhuon, France. There are also photographs taken during her travels around France and Italy and of Riedel's return voyage back to the United States. There are also approxiamately 80 commercial photographs of France during the war.
