Biographical / Historical

Therese Robinson (b. 1960) of California served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 2005. During her service, she was employed as an air weapons controller and a daycare facilities inspector. Therese Robinson was born in East St. Louis, Missouri, and spent most of her childhood in California. She graduated from Foothill High School in Tustin, California, in 1978.

The following year, she enrolled in the child development program at Fresno State University. While a student there, she joined the air force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) program. Before her senior year, she attended Field Training Camp at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Robinson graduated in 1984 and planned to attend medical school. However, the air force commissioned her and she was sent to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, to attend technical school in air weapons control. After completing the program she was sent to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, for technical school.

Robinson's first assignment in the air force was at Eglin Air Force Base, where she worked as an air weapons controller. She was later transferred to Wallace Air Station in the same capacity. She served overseas duty at Riyadh Air Base in Saudi Arabia, for Elf One, during the Gulf War. She also served a temporary duty assignments in Korea and the Philippines. She was then stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, as an instructor in air weapons control.

After eight years in the career field, Robinson was reassigned to the services field as a childcare facility inspector. Her first assignment in this capacity was at Langley Air Force Base, though she traveled the United States inspecting childcare facilities. In 1999 she was stationed in Germany during Operation Allied Force as a member of the Crisis Action Team. In 2004 during the War on Terror, she was assigned to Kabul, Afghanistan. She first served in a support capacity, and later as a mentor. In her spare time, she helped improve local childcare facilities.

When she returned to the United States in 2005, she retired from the air force after twenty-one years of duty. Post-service, Robinson attended school for home staging and started her own staging business. She and her husband, also a retired air force serviceman, have two children.
