The Helen Elizabeth Clapp Scrapbook contains material selected by Helen Elizabeth Clapp (Jackson) to commemorate her college career at the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG) and personal life. The scrapbook contains information about Clapp's graduating class, photographs of herself, friends, faculty, family, and travel to Chapel Hill and Wrighstville Beach. The scrapbook also contains invitations, programs from theatre events and UNCG activities, and other ephemera.

Biographical Note

Helen Elizabeth Clapp was born on December 5, 1905, and was the daughter of David Carr and Lula Henrietta Anderson Clapp. She grew up in Greensboro and attended Greensboro High School. She graduated from the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG) in 1927 with a B.A. in English. She married Walter Clinton Jackson, Jr., on June 16, 1928.

Clapp created this scrapbook to commemorate her time at the University. The scrapbook was premade for college students and is titled The Girl Graduate: Her Own Book. The scrapbook was designed and illustrated by Louise Perrett and Sarah K. Smith, published by The Reilly and Lee Co. in Chicago.
