This collection contains eight letters written by Hill and one by her huysband Sgt. Willis Hill to their daughters Ella and Josephine. The letters contain information about the life of a Civil War nurse, the feelings of loneliness and sorry at being seperated from her family, and the soliders and staff she knew at the hospital.

This collection contains three manuscript wartime letters, 1862-1864, written to Jerusha A. Sawyer by grateful soliders who served alongside or were treated by her. Also, a post-war Department of the Interior Pension Award certificate, an original that includes receipt stamp by the U.S. Pension Agent at Boston, Massachusetts, dated 1894 January 20.
