General Correspondence D, 1945
Scope and Contents
These records (Boxes 1-24) are the official records of the Office of the Dean of Administration (1934-1945) and Chancellor (1945-1950) of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina.
Boxes 26-27 of the Jackson records contain material connected with the Citizens' Service Corps of World War II. Jackson was the Guilford County Director of the Corps, and the items included here are those which he received or created in that capacity. Here are found items of correspondence, newsletters, bulletins, progress reports, decals, and placards dealing with the entire scope of the agency's activities: clothing and hosiery collections, salvage and conservation campaigns, and war bond drives.
Photographs, clippings, speeches, tributes to Jackson, and other biographical material relating to his work and life at UNCG are in box 25. These papers were originally in the vertical file of the University Archives. One interesting item is a teaching aid for the study of biographies--a part of the course, Representative Americans, which Jackson taught at the college.
