Abstract The Department of Physics begin in the late 1910s, however, it struggled to establish a reputable undergraduate program until the 1930s. It would continue to grow over the years and in 1986 changed its name to the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Reardon, a physics instructor and head of the physics department at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro). It includes course materials for aviation, photography, and various physics classes.
