Christy Diaz (b. 1986) served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2012. Christy Diaz was born 5 June 1986 in Miami, Florida. After the separation of her parents, Diaz was raised by her mother and grandparents. When she was in the fifth grade they moved to Naples, Florida.

In April 2004 Diaz signed a four year contract for the United States Army, where she would be working in Human Resources. On 2 September 2004, Diaz began her nine weeks basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, after which she completed another nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). During AIT she was trained for Human Resources, including typing up memos and reports. Diaz's first duty station Diaz was in Freiburg, Germany, where she worked in a Personnel Services Branch, entering records, typing up orders and promotions, and producing identification cards. While in Germany, Diaz was promoted to specialist, or E-4. She also had the opportunity to visit many places as a tourist, including Spain, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.

After two years Diaz was given orders to Fort Drum, New York and assigned to an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. By the times she arrived in March 2007, the EOD unit had already been deployed to Iraq for several months, so she was assigned to another EOD unit. In August 2007, Diaz joined her originally assigned unit at Forward Operating Base Warhorse in Baqubah, Iraq. She reenlisted for another four years in November 2007. In May 2008, Diaz was promoted to sergeant, or E-5. While in Iraq, Diaz was diagnosed with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) brought on by a sexual assault that happened during her initial training at Fort Jackson.

Around November 2008, Diaz's EOD unit moved to Forward Operating Base Kalsu, in Iskandariya, Iraq, and then back to Baghdad towards the end of her deployment. Diaz left Iraq in February 2009, returned to Fort Drum, and in June was given orders to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Here she received counseling for her PTSD, and learned to cope with her anxiety and depression.

In October 2012, Diaz decided to leave the military. During the same month, Diaz married her husband, Jesse, who she had met while at Eglin. They eventually moved to North Carolina, where Diaz began attending The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She graduated in December 2014 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. While in school, Diaz was crowned Mrs. North Carolina 2015. In October 2015, Diaz and her husband moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
