Biographical Note

Patricia Ann Roney (1923-2021), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, served in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service) from 1944-1946. Patricia Ann Roney was born in Crafton, Pennsylvania, on 5 June 1923. After graduating from Crafton High School and Pinkerton School, she worked at Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company. In 1944, Roney enlisted in the WAVES and went to Hunter College in the Bronx, New York for basic training and Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa for additional training.

She was stationed with the Navy V-12 Unit at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York until discharged in 1946.

After leaving the WAVES, Roney received her bachelor's degree from Margaret Morrison Carnegie College in Pittsburgh where she was president of the College Senate. In 1951, she married Robert "Bob" H. Wettach, Jr. She died in Westport, Connecticut on 20 January 2021.

Patricia Ann Roney (1923-1994?), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, served in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service) from 1944-1946. Included in this collection are Roney's scrapbook and diary.
