Abstract
Birdie Holloway was born on July 26, 1899 at Ottumwa, Iowa. She earned her Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Oberlin, Ohio) and her Masters of Science in Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Oberlin, Ohio). She was an Associate Professor of Music Education at Woman’s College (later University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1935-1965. She was a pioneer and innovator in the music education field. She hosted “Music In The Air '' on the television station, WUNC-TV, from October 1955 - January 1961. She died on July 10, 1992, in Houston, Texas.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Materials were donated by Birdie Holloway. Two volumes of postage stamps were donated by Birdie Holloway on June 28, 1979. Two additional volumes were sent by her attorney in October 1991.
