Scope and Contents

The Sue Ramsey Johnston Ferguson Papers date from 1945 to 1947 and contain correspondence and clippings.

Mrs. Ferguson corresponded with state officials, teachers, school administrators, and other constituents while serving in the state legislature. The letters in this collection are chiefly concerned with Ferguson's proposal to set up a committee to review the North Carolina school system, including teachers' salaries and the school lunch program.

The clippings in this collection come from North Carolina newspapers and describe various concerns regarding public schools in the state. Some of the clippings describe Mrs. Ferguson's activities, but the majority are related to education in general.
