The collection includes photographs of Paige during her work with the Red Cross in Cam Ranh Bay; South Vietnam circa 1968; Newspaper article from the Greensboro record dated 4 March 1972 featuring Paige on her service in the Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) during the Vietnam War. American Red Cross News Service typed copy on letterhead about Paige's experiences in the Red Cross during the Vietnam war.

Biographical / Historical

Dale "Paige" Dempsey, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was stationed in Vietnam while serving in the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) from 1969 to 1971.

Dempsey taught French and Spanish for one year on Long Island, NY, before hearing from a friend about the Red Cross overseas recreational program. Her main goal was to help boost morale among GI's in especially isolated outposts throughout Vietnam.
