Biographical / Historical

Kimberly Dawn Mozingo (b. 1968) served in the United States Air Force as a radio operator from 1987-1998. Kimberly Mozingo was born in High Point, North Carolina, and spent the majority of her childhood in Archdale, North Carolina." Mozingo attended school in Archdale and Trinity, North Carolina, where she enjoyed academics and played in her high school's marching band."

After graduating high school in 1986, Mozingo enlisted in the United States Air Force, took the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB), traveled to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Charlotte, and in 1987, went to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas for basic training."

After basic training, Mozingo was sent to Biloxi, Mississippi for technical school training, where she learned to operate radios." In June 1987, Mozingo traveled to Berkshire, England for her first duty assignment at Royal Air Force Station Greenham Common.

In 1989, she traveled to Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire for her next assignment. Mozingo was then sent to Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where she worked in the United States Air Force European Command Center (United StatesAFE)" In 1993, Mozingo was sent to Hurlburt Field in Florida, where she worked for five years before deciding to leave the United States Air Force in 1998."

After the military, in 2004, Mozingo returned to North Carolina. In 2008, she began taking college courses, received her bachelor's degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2012, and is currently working on a master's degree. Mozingo also works for the National Park Service at the Revolutionary War Battlefield in Greensboro.
