Louise E. Roy’s scrapbooks document her time with the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) from 1942-1945. The photographs depict images from Hawaii, Guam, and San Francisco showing landscapes, wildlife, colleagues, and military vehicles. Also included are maps, postcards, and news articles.

Biographical / Historical
Louise E. Roy (1921-2005), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, served with the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) from 1941-1945.
Roy joined the Red Cross in December 1941. Following her training in Washington D.C. she traveled to Ft. Lawton, Seattle. Roy traveled by ship on the USAT Etolin to Hawaii where she stayed at the Sacred Hearts Convent, her temporary housing.
Roy’s permanent assignment for the remainder of the war was at The Army Ground Forces Enlisted Men's Club in Guam, where she served as a hostess in a recreational club.
