Abstract

The North Carolina Theatre Conference Collection contains an assortment of documents, photos, playbills, programs, correspondence, sketches, and other materials relating to the organization. These materials have been collected from various members through their Archives Committee Initiative. The NCTC collection was in the possession of Harold Tedford, an active member of the organization, and was donated to UNCG SCUA. Because of its close association and collaborative nature with other theatre orgnizations, both inside and outside of the state, as well as NCTC members belonging to these other organizations, there is an abundance of material that came from those organizations. Notable members of NCTC who were also involved in these other organizations, like the NC Speech Association and the NC Arts Council, are Donald Wolfe, George A Parides, and Harold Tedford.

Arrangement

The bulk of the collection is arranged under the first series, the North Carolina Theatre Conference, with subseries breaking down the different content types of the materials in that series. Subseries under NCTC include: Founding Documents; Directories; Conference Programs; Conference Planning; Manual of Operations; Board Meeting Materials; General Session Meetiong Materials; Committees and Divisions; Newsletters and Publications; Productions and Attendance; Questionnaires and Surveys; Taxes, Grants, Budgets, and Financial Reports; Registration and Receipts; Art and Designs; Photographs; Notes; Miscellaneous; and Correspondence.

The rest of the collection is made up of much smaller series of materials relating to the different theatre and arts organizations included in the collection.

Offensive Language Statement

Our finding aids and other collection descriptions may occasionally re-use language provided by creators or former holders of the materials, but we strive to place outdated or offensive terminology in context. That said, we recognize that we may not always make the right decision and welcome feedback from all sources so we can learn and adjust our practices. Please contact us at scua@uncg.edu if you encounter problematic language in our finding aids or other collection description.
