Elizabeth Cowling was born in Northfield, Minnesota. She attended Carleton College, where she received her B.A. degree in Philosophy and went on to Columbia University, where she received her M.A. degree in Economics. Abstract
Raymond J. Gariglio came to UNCG in 1966 as a Professor of Music and became the bandmaster for all UNCG performing band ensembles. In 1969, he established the UNCG Jazz Ensemble, the first university-accredited jazz ensemble in North Carolina. Abstract
Dr. Mark Smith-Soto is Professor Emeritus of Romance Languages (Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures) at UNCG Greensboro. Dr. Smith-Soto also served as editor/poetry editor of International Poetry Review from 1991 to 2022, and as director of the Center for Creative Writing in the Arts from 2005 to 2015.
This collection contains published and unpublished poetry, and photocopies of poetry by Mark Smith-Soto, teaching materials, and publications.
