Dolores Hamrick tells of her early life, education, time in military service, and life after service, as well as her involvement with the Women Marines Association.

Hamrick relates several incidents of her service, some humorous, such as a superior officer addressing her as her maiden surname "Angel" the so-called "peanut suit" uniform worn by Women Marines. Hamrick also briefly tells of the experiences of all three of her children in military service.
