Scope and Contents
Heralds are printed materials, usually on one sheet or a folded mailer, that announce a coming attraction to the public. Unlike a program, a herald's main function is not to provide detailed information (such as a cast listing) but to publicize. Heralds most often list show dates and directions for purchasing tickets. The heralds in this series date from 1875-2006.
The Heralds series, like the Programs series, is divided geographically into United States and International. United States programs are further geographically subdivided into New York City, Minnesota, North Carolina, National Tours, and other United States, while international programs are subdivided into Canada and United Kingdom. Within these geographical subdivisions, programs are listed by year. Within a year, programs are listed alphabetically.
