Scope and Contents
The Greensboro Reader Collection dates from 1967 to 1968 and contains correspondence, manuscripts, galley proofs, and biographical material.
There are two folders of correspondence, dating from May 1967 to May 1968. The first folder contains correspondence between the Greensboro Reader Collection editors and the writers whose work was requested for the anthology. Also included are letters of permission and assignments of copyright from various editors and publishers. Letters from some contributors like William Pitt Root, Fred Chappell, and Jean Farley contain remarks about their jobs, their own literary works, and literature in general.
The second folder of correspondence contains communication between the Greensboro Reader Collection editors and the University of North Carolina Press's director, editor and chief, and sales manager. These letters concern the details of publication, including copy preparation and release date.
The manuscript of The Greensboro Reader consists of original and photocopied typescript material, totaling 290 numbered leaves.
