The Katherine Yoder Scharrer Papers date from 1923 to 1977 and primarily consists of correspondence to Scharrer from her husband Andrew (Andy) Scharrer and her mother Emily Manetta Asbury Yoder.

Although most of the correspondence is personal in nature, the letters provide insight into campus and national events. Julius I. Foust (1856-1946) was president of the campus while Katherine was a student and an employee. In Katherine's January 13, 1924 letter she says, "I find that the college girls can not go driving on Sunday except with members of their own family because of the college authorities." Her February 25, 1924 letter discusses the "Tacky Party" given by the senior class in honor of the faculty. She writes about having her hair bobbed, which was a style popular during the 1920's. In Katherine's April 1, 1924 letter, she talks about the upcoming commencement and two summer sessions. She also complains that the "old maids" (presumably the earlier graduating classes coming back to visit) irritated the current students.

Andrew makes an important announcement concerning the campus in his May 23, 1924 letter: "Went to the movies last night and they had a small sketch showing your college in regards to raising funds. It showed a number of students and I looked for you but could not find you!" The campaign he mentions was the fundraiser for a student-alumnae non-academic activity building. In Andrew's letter dated July 1, 1924 (which was a presidential election year), he talks about the convention and having to leave when the 29th ballot was being counted.
