Scope and Contents
The Jan Van Dyke Papers contains materials related to Van Dyke's personal life and professional career as a dancer, teacher, and administrator. The collection contains Van Dyke's choreography, correspondence, faculty materials, teaching materials, photographs, newspaper clippings, and video recordings.
The collection contains materials related to various dance groups that Van Dyke helped form, including the John Gamble/Jan Van Dyke Dance Group, Jan Van Dyke and Dancers, and the Jan Van Dyke Dance Group. These materials include general files, photographs, fliers, programs, video recordings, and other ephemera.
The professional materials in the collection include materials related to Van Dyke's career. This series incldues choreography, UNCG faculty materials, annual review and tenure materials, course evaluations, syllabi and readings, and research projects.
The collection also contains personal materials, which include correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, artifacts, and student materials. The student materials include essays and other written work from elementary school through college, graduation announcements, notebooks, and scrapbooks.

Arrangement and Scope:
The series is divided in two subseries, General Files and Audiovisual Materials. Both are arranged alphabetically by title and then chronologically. General Files subseries includes programs, fliers, and administrative materials. The Audiovisual Materials subseries includes negatives, photographs, VHS tapes, and film recordings.
