Content Description
The collection includes 2 V-Mail letters written by to The McCoy family in Red Wing, Minnesota. On 1 November 1942, Dorothy Volkert, described her impressions of the country, including the blitz attacks, blackouts, food, and the local scenery. The second letter was written by Jean Jack, a mutual friend and fellow army nurse, on 20 November 1942 also describes the damage caused by the German Blitz attacks and blackouts, as well as London. The collection also includes a photograph postcard of probably either Dorothy or Jean. On the back of the postcard is written “Italy- May 1944”.
