19th Century Surveyor's Diary
19th Century "Notes of a Tour" belonging to an anonymous surveyor working in Virginia and North Carolina. Predominantly written in 1820, the author recorded observations of his trips to ascertain the navigability of various rivers to move freight.
Donated by Suzanne Helms. The diary was previously owned by Wayne Elliott of Christiansburg, Virginia, who was a descendant of the anonymous surveyor.
