Content Description

Filomena "Fay" Langone (1917-?), of Mineola, New York, served in the WAACs (U.S. Women's Army Auxiliary Corps) and the Air WACs (Women's Army Corps) in the United States Army Air Force from 1943-1945. Langone enlisted in New York City and began her service on 5 April, 1943. She did her basic training at the Fifth WAAC Training Center in Ruston, Louisiana. She was then assigned to the 3030th Army Air Force Base Unit at Roswell Army Air Field in Roswell, New Mexico and worked as a clerk/classification specialist. She left the service on 27 November, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant.

The collection includes two scrapbooks, clipping, shoulder patches, military papers, WAAC drill regulations, unused personalized "Discharge Service Record" vinyl trifold case. The first scrapbook contains clippings and ephemera from her time at Roswell Air Field and the second scrapbook contains photographs, primarily of fellow WAACS/Air WACS and servicemen.
