Abstract Anna Maria Gove (1867-1948) came to the State Normal and Industrial School (now UNCG) in 1893, and served as resident physician, professor of hygiene, and director of the Department of Health until her retirement in 1937. Abstract Charles Duncan McIver was born on September 27, 1860 in Moore County, North Carolina. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1881 and began teaching in Durham and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
