PRIDE!

 Collection
Identifier: UA 0051.0027

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of documents detailing the registration process for the PRIDE! Club at UNCG, as well as fliers from the club and meeting information. There is a folder of correspondence, primarily backlash, against forming a Gay and Lesbian Student Union on UNCG’s campus from 1974 to 1980. Many of these letters against the formation of the GLSU are from previous alumni and have respective letters from the vice-chancellor supporting the union– citing constitutional concerns and previous legal precedents supporting the formation of the club. The rest of the collection is newspaper clippings and articles regarding the Gay liberation movement from across the nation, with dates ranging from 1970 to 2004.
