Biographical or Historical Information
In 1985, the Bryan School of Business and Economics reorganized its internal structure and created three new departments including the Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education. James W. Crews was named director who was formally head of the Department of Business Information and Support Systems.
The main goal of the Division for the undergraduate program was to prepare students as secondary school business education and/or marketing education teachers. The Graduate program prepared master teachers in business education and/or marketing education for employment in secondary schools, community colleges, four-year institution, employment training programs, and other types of postsecondary institutions.
The Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education, however, was not considered a department within the Bryan School of Business and Economics. It did not have a full-time faculty assigned to the Division, it had no separate office support system, and it had limited resources.
In 1989 George P. Grill became the director of the Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education after James Crews retired from the Bryan School of Business and Economics.
In 1992, Benton (Bud) Miles was named director of the Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education.
In 1993, Stephen R. Lucas was named director of the Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education.
In 1996, the Division of Business and Marketing Teacher Education merges with the Department of Finance, and the Department of Management and Marketing to form the Department of Business Administration.
