Scope and Contents

The LaVonne Current Nance Scrapbook contains photographs dating from 1941 to 1946. The photographs have been removed from the pages of the scrapbook and kept in their original order. Documenting Nance's time as a student at WCUNC, the scrapbook includes photographs of Nance with her friends on campus, a graduating ceremony, campus buildings, and various athletics in the college gymnasium. The scrapbook also contains photographs of outdoor activities such as swimming and fishing and other off campus scenes.

Biographical or Historical Information

LaVonna Current Nance was a student of the Women's College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. While attending the college, Nance was a member of the Adelphian Society, Education Club, Recreation Association, and the Y.W.C.A. She was also very active with campus athletics, playing Baseball, Hockey, Tennis, and Basketball in addition to Swimming, Square Dancing, and Gymnastics.

Abstract

LaVonna Current Nance was a student of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Among her activities at the Woman's College, Nance was active in college athletics and was also a member of the Adelphian Society, Education Club, Recreation Association, and the Y.W.C.A.
