Biographical / Historical

Veronica "Ronnie" Dabrowski Eustice (b. 1923) of Brooklyn, New York, served with the Army Nurse Corps from May 1945 to July 1946, and in 1960 resumed her nursing career in the private sector.

Veronica "Ronnie" Dabrowski Eustice was born on 7 May 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, to Polish parents. She graduated from the Girls High School and then attended nursing school at Saint Catherine's Hospital in Brooklyn from 1941 to 1944."

Eustice did private duty nursing for several months before joining the Army Nurse Corps on 24 May 1945. After completing basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, she became head nurse of three wards in the orthopedic unit at the Fort Dix hospital. Eustice received overseas training at Fort Jackson, near Columbia, South Carolina, and departed Fort Kilmer, New Jersey, bound for Le Havre, France, in February 1946. Eustice served in the 115th General Hospital (later the 386th Station Hospital) as part of the occupation forces in Kassel, Germany.

On 14 March 1946 Veronica Dabrowski Eustice married Russell Eustice in Germany. She was discharged in May 1946 as a second lieutenant, and moved to Hackensack, New Jersey, with her husband. She returned to nursing in the 1960s and retired to North Carolina.
