Scope and Contents
An eight-page handwritten memoir dated May 1944 describes Hedding's train ride from Camp Maxey to Fort Oglethorpe; her overseas training in Georgia; and her journey to Lae, New Guinea. Subjects include Hedding's social activities and athletics; her work in the supply office at Fort Oglethorpe and in the mess car en route to California; the barracks and training at Camp Stoneman; a day trip to San Francisco; and her voyage to the South Pacific. Of particular note is Hedding's emphasis on the camaraderie of the women. The memoir ends upon Hedding's arrival at Lae, New Guinea.
