Scope and Contents
The Gladys Wells Ringer Papers contains materials and photos that were created and/or used by Gladys Wells Ringer during her time as a student at the North Carolina College for Women from 1921-1923.
The collection contains various paper materials, inclujding a book of biology notes, various correspondence, campus publications, newspaper clippings from the Raleigh News and Observer on Glady's graduation from Law School in 1925, and genaology of the Ringer family. Correspondence includes a letter from Ringer to her mother in 1921, and letters received by Ringer from women in her professional field. The professional correspondence recounts women's experiences in the work force during the 1920s.
The collection also contains a number of photographs from 1921-1923, including a portrait of Harriet Wiseman Elliott, who later became the Dean of Women for this institution in 1935. Other identified individuals are Rose Vick Everett O'Brian and Vera Paschal.
