Correspondence, 1943
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of correspondence, military papers, photographs, and writings by Evelyn Horton. Most of the correspondence is written by Evelyn to her parents back home in Massachusetts. However, there are a few letters from WAC friends and one letter from her brother. The photographs include pictures from before Evelyn joined the WAC; photographs of her in uniform at Camp Pickett, Virginia; Evelyn costumed as "Miss Liberty" for the U.S. Army musical revue Sandsations of 1944; other photographs from her military days; and of her wedding. The writings folder contains poems written by Evelyn and accounts of some of her travels while she was stationed overseas with the military.
