[May Day Pageant Scrapbook], 1912
Scope and Contents
This scrapbook, created by Annie M. Petty, contains materials relating to the 1912 May Day Pageant held at the State Normal and Industrial College, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Correspondence in the scrapbook includes letters to the faculty and students of the State Normal and Industrial College from Kenneth H. McIntyre, Director of Agricultural Education in Guilford County, regarding his participation in the pageant. Other items include publications, the first official notice (written by Minnie L. Jamison and Bertha Lee) sent regarding the Pageant, programs and brochures, Old English May Day songs, and newspaper clippings, “Alumnae News” and “The Deaf Carolinian” articles regarding the Pageant. Photographs document the pageant participants in costumes, pageant groups, floats, the parade, and May Pole dances.
