This collection contains a doll as well as an original letter signed by Florence Nightingale. Born May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale was a social reformer, statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. She is known for transforming nursing into a respectable profession for women and establishing the Nightingale Training School at St Thomas' Hospital, the first training school for nurses. She was the first woman to be elected to the Royal Statistical Society as well as the first woman to be awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
