Biographical statement

Sara "Bobbie" Tillery Carter was a long-time staff member at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Carter worked at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro's History Department for nearly 30 years as the head administrative assistant.

Sara "Bobbie" Tillery Carter was born on March 30, 1932 in Young Harris, Georgia. She attended Young Harris Academy High School. She graduated from Young Harris College with a major in English. Following her graduation from Young Harris College, she attended La Grange College to further her education. Bobbie spent time living abroad in Germany before moving back to the United States and residing in New Jersey.

In 1963, she moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where she spent the remainder of her life. Bobbie's professional career involved teaching fifth grade English. She came to UNCG in 1968 as a secretary in the Department of History.
